Turn off your music when downloading. Sound waves interfere with the wireless siginal by making them 'bend'

Mine is about 6 feet away and it shows me:

Active Connection Information

    interface: 802.11 WiFi (wlan0)
    Speed: 1 Mbp/s
    Driver: b43

    IP Address: 192.168.1.103
    Broadcast: 192.168.1.255
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Route: 192.168.1.1
    Primary DNS: 71.243.0.12
    Secondary DNS: 68.237.161.12
    Hardware Address: xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I realize that the slower the speed the further the distance,
but Sometimes I'd like to have more speed when watching a video or
downloading a file.
