Grub booting issue

Yes, maybe. In your bios settings you could check if the entries for the 
hard disks are set to auto. I had an even worse grub problem on one 
machine where the entry for the disk was set to fixed values for 
heads/cylinders/sectors. Changing the entry to auto fixed the problem.
