Ubuntu holding onto invalid dns entries

Yes, but this is a change that has propagated to windows machines on network x using nameserver y but hasn't to ubuntu machine on network x using nameserver y. By the way, I've just tried using my Asus Eee PC (with a white case, what's more!) on network x using nameserver y and it gets through to the right machine.
