been a long time since I messed with 64 bit (for many reasons, this
being one of them, but on a different flavor of linux) if you open up
synaptic and switch to "sections" over on the left panel there should be
something that says something about 32 bit programs or runtime
environment.  thats what you need to install, if you already have that,
then when you search for firefox in synaptic it should show 2 different
version, one 32 bit, one 64 bit.

someone please correct me if im wrong, like i said its been i while
since i venture down the 64bit road.
