You even might have to look at the kernel configuration, especially the 
CONFIG_PARPORT* parameters. It might be that the standard kernel does not 
support a parallel port ZIP drive. In that case it might be necessary to 
compile your own kernel, but I hope the link NoOp gave you will give you 
an other solution.
