Problem with Canon MP510

I have recently bought a Canon MP510 printer (with a built-in scanner and copy features) and Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) doesn't seem to work at all with the machine.
It works only at the black color printings. Every time I try to print a multy color page, every color is printed at a wrong position, so that the final
result is strange images. I have tested the printer at Windows OS and it works fine. I tried to install some drivers from canon officcial web site. After the instalation Ubuntu recognizes only the scanner machine.
I would like to inform you about this bug. Also I would be grateful to have some information and help about this problem from you.
