yep, that is what I thought.. but it worked on the Dell Laptop with
MS-Windows.. so I wiped the drive and installed Kubuntu and it
doesn't.. so the hw must be good!

Rick: Any idea where I can set the 20db gain in the mixer you mentioned?

I am looking at the KMix, on the "Input" tab and have three sliders,
but all are already at the top.
