I'd have to agree with John that you're merely imagining you're
connected :-)  

If you have a connection shown in knetworkmanager, then you should be able
to find the IP by right-clicking on the icon, and then hovering over the
wireless entry on the menu.  fwiw, in checking this I discovered that even
though nm was showing an apparent connection, when I hovered over the icon,
it turned out that I was _not_ connected, and had to reconnect.
