Package: linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic
Version: 2.6.24-12.19
Severity: wishlist

Could CONFIG_CIFS_WEAK_PW_HASH please be defined in the configuration
for the kernel. This will let me connect to unsecure servers.

If I try to smbmount a share it returns with:

mount error 13 = Permission denied

Dmesg states:

[ 1880.145086] CIFS VFS: Server requests plain text password but client
support disabled
[ 1880.150314] Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
[ 1880.150329] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
[ 1878.090047] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13

I assume enabling CONFIG_CIFS_WEAK_PW_HASH will let smbmount use
unecrypted connection.

Flagged as wishlist, although I would love to see it added (-:

If I degrade smbfs to 3.0.26a-1ubuntu2 it works fine, but will not use
the cifs kernel module. Ubuntu Hardy uses 3.0.28-4ubuntu1, which does
not work for me with unsecure servers.
