no response after grub load

On installing Ubuntu 7.04 as desktop(unique system) rebooting computer & loading grub,there is no response from the computer.Is there anyone who could help me to fix the problem?

p.s. please tell me the detailed steps as I am new to Ubuntu.Thanks!
