setting a cron job

I'm using getmail at the moment,
i've tried again and the error i'm getting is:
"/tmp/crontab.1JbJiA/crontab":3: bad hour
errors in crontab file, can't install.
Do you want to retry the same edit?
I'm not sure what that means?
