Hello Gabe,
I am about to migrate to Ubuntu from nearly a decade of faithful FreeBSD
usage.
I have used Quanta Plus for many years, with outstanding results.
My own research for Ubuntu HTML (and other language editors) programs
seems to point me to "Bluefish".
It seems as if Bluefish has what I need as far as syntax color coding,
auto indent, autocomplete, etc...

A side note: I've used vi for over a decade (shunning emacs because of
complexity) for many tasks.
Once a person gets comfortable with vi, nothing else seems as cool, or
as dependable.
However, I'll not be using vi for any web coding - because there are
cooler apps around, like "Bluefish" seems to be.

Just some thoughts.
