Reboot the machine. Hit the escape key. There should be an Ubuntu 6.06
LTS recovery option. Highlight it and hit enter. This will boot your
ubuntu in single user mode. At the prompt type:

passwd <username>

Set the password and then type the following command:

init 5

Use the <username> and password to login.
