eeek. In case you didn't realize, your whole graphical system is
called Xorg. Xorg is the replacement for XFree86. It sounds like
you tried to manually install an old XFree86 over your existing Xorg.
I think you've made a real hash of things here. IMHO, your easiest
solution maybe to back up your home folder and any other config files
you know you need and reinstall.... I don't know anything about
COMSOL, but most things that say you need XFree86 will work fine with
Xorg. If it doesn't, then you'll need quite good hacking skills to
run XFree86 instead of Xorg.
