Hey,
The mobo I mentioned has a Radeon HD3200 as its onboard video which
is surprisingly good. I've paired it with a Phenom 9600 and am using
it as my HTPC and vmware/dev/plaything. The onboard video has no
troubles with HD video ( one review had it playing crysis too, albeit
at <10fps ). The mobo was (just) under $100, but my cpu was a little
over $200. Had I not already had a box loaded with hard disks it would
have been tempting to go with a low voltage CPU and headed down the
silent path.
If anyone is having issues with any of the same components as I'm
using here feel free to message me, I may have had the same problems
and overcome them.
Complete specs:
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H - AMD 780G chipset
Onboard ATI Radeon HD3200 - very similar to the discrete HD2400
Phenom 9600 (Quad 2.3GHz)
4GB DDR2-800 (2x2GB kit)
Pioneer SATA DVD burner
2x40GB PATA hdd (maxtor and seagate) - used as OS disks
4x400GB Samsung SATA-II - Software RAID 5 & LVM2
3x750GB WD SATA-II - Software RAID 5 & LVM2
Generic Sil3114 4 port PCI SATA-I adapter
AVerMedia AVerTV Hybrid+FM PCI - DVB works great, still working on
analogue, radio and composite in.
Antec 4U22 ATX 19" Rack Mount Case - a great case btw.
cheers,
Owen.
