The 64bit version since the Intel Core 2 Dual is a 64bit processor.
Unlike MS Windows 64bit, the support for 64bit in Linux is far more
mature and stable. Its been known, also from personal experience, that
the 32bit version of Ubuntu has problems running on 64bit processors.
It could be isolated to just the AMD Athlon 64x2 I have but I've heard
other people have similar issues. In my case the LiveCD of the 32bit
version simply would not boot. Even when I installed via Wubi.
