What exactly do you do to browse the shares?
If you're using nautilus (the default Gnome filemanager) you might be
affected by a bug in the new VFS backend the Hardy version of Gnome
uses, which fails to list the shares in cases where a password is needed.
If you know the name of the share, you can enter its URL manually in
nautilus' location bar (press Ctrl+L or click on the edit icon). For
example, if you'd want to access the share "MyFineShare" on the machine
"MyADServer" the URL would be
smb://MyADServer/MyFineShare

The above wouldn't explain your "I cannot see shared files in any shared
folder" problem, though (at least the way I understand it).
