Hello Ubuntu'ans
After very intensive but not really successful experiments with
preparing external 2 HDD's, one connected with TCP/IP and the other with
USB ...
... like in Monopoly: Go to Start WITHOUT honorar ! ;-(
For the moment I do not continue with the TCP/IP experiments but USB !!
With GParted I created 2 partitions:
prim 120GB ext3 and another with the rest GB ntfs:
a) with GParted 0.3.6-7 with labeling them LD149ext3 / LD149ntfs
After restarting both partitions were showing up on Desktop ;-)
Unfortunately I were unable to access them and tried once more with
deleting everything and repeating the xth times:
b) with GParted 0.3.3-4 (within Ubuntu 7.10) without labels
Now only one "disk" shows on the desktop !?
To identify these partitions exactly i tried to label as following:
sna at WS222:~$ sudo e2label /dev/sdb1 LD149ext3
[sudo] password for sna:
Seems OK !
But I am unable to create new folder/s !?
Labeling the second (ntfs) partition gives following error message:
sna at WS222:~$ sudo e2label /dev/sdb2 LD149ntfs
e2label: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sdb2
Couldn't find valid filesystem superblock.
sna at WS222:~$
Here I am able to create folder/s ! ;-)
Checking on permissions:
The ext3 partition shows root as owner / group ;-)
The ntfs partition names unknown as owner / group ;-(
What am i doing wrong ??? Were do I miss something ??
Your advice and guidance is hot awaited and very appreciated !
TIA and cheers, svobi
