I think you meant "apt-get install apt-file"? Well, I did that, and it
complained near the end:
Setting up apt-file (2.1.0) ...
ls: cannot access /var/cache/apt/apt-file: No such file or directory
You need to run 'sudo apt-file update' to update the cache.
The results of 'apt-file update' are below:
