If that's an actual Ubuntu installer message, (don't ask me since I
didn't encounter that error) we need more information about your
system. Exactly what do you have, how much ram installed, how much
disk space, how big is the partition you're trying to put ubuntu in,
etc.

You might try the alternate install CD of 8.04 for your architecture.
(Incidentally, I did not know there was one for the 8086. But that's
probably a typo in the Subject: header. :)
