I had total lockup with my first Hardy installations, the CD version and
the DVD version. (I installed both from the same source). Everything
appeared to be normal at first, mouse movements and clicks worked for up
to about 20 or so mouse movements and key entries but then suddenly,
the cursor would lock and the keyboard became effectively disconnected.
No key entries, single or double had any effect, mouse movements and
clicks had no effect. The lockups occurred every time I booted up but
didn't have a consistent pattern. I tried all the remedies suggested
here, to no avail.

The only thing I could do was power down the computer by pressing the
power button and try again.

My fix...... I tried downloading and creating new disks, and this time
Hardy worked. All I can think is, the first installations (CD & DVD)
must have had some flaw. I didn't make note of exactly which source it
was but I'm sure the second downloads were from a different source
