urgent+ubuntu 8.04 desktop+post installation trouble

There are some other ways to fix this; however, I would highly recommend
re-installing the system.

Ubuntu has its problems, but most problems start immediately after
installation. They can usually be fixed with re-installation.

There might be other ways, though...
