best graphical mode on ubuntu 8.04 server

hello

i am kind of new to the ubuntu server installation and could someone suggest
me a good graphical interface, i think i have heard about fluxbox, X window
and so on. But i would less confused  when someone experienced could suggest
a user friendly GUI and some links on how to install them on to the server
