Try a search for "ubuntu manual" for Ubuntu specific guides.

Use Synaptic and search for and install rutebook for a comprehensive 
guide to Linux.

O'Reilly sells some good books as well.  I recommend "Running Linux" 
and "Linux in a Nutshell"
