I hesitate to answer as 1) I have to assume that your asking about the
Cadence Inc. EDA products. and 2) I haven't (literally) seen any of
their products since about '99/2000.

So, I'll assume number 1 is true and all I can say about number 2 is
that back then they relied on very stable platforms for dedicated
workstations/servers and it would be up to Cadence themselves to choose
Ubuntu as one of their chosen supported platforms. You would have to ask
them for Ubuntu support.
