So I opened it in Firefox, which I hate to do and waded through the first
five posts and still didn't actually find this issue...

OK, it probably is OT, but they have claimed there's a specific Ubuntu bug.
I don't know enough about ssh+svn (except that it says not to use it in the
svn-book!), but one would suspect there's a way to make ssh log the verbose
connect information...
