Howto recompile kernel package with a different Timer Frequency

of course.
I've tried both ways: old (make config & make...)
and "new" (debian/rules....)

Recently I've installed Gentoo on my laptop - there wasn't any problems 
with kernel. But their kernel is much more like vanillas one.
