I think I got caught by this as well. I've burned a couple of dvd's as
well with ubuntu 8;04 on my brand new AMD 64 box, including a brand
new Pioneer SATA dvdrw/cdrw drive. Usually I get decent (usable) burns
from burning dvd's with growisofs and the makedvd script from the
tovid project (which I use for encoding and making dvd's here).
They're usable in the sense that I can play them all the way through,
but there usually is a "write error" in the very last part - after say
99.72% is done.

Most if not all of the time when I burn CD's with k3b I can't get a
clean burn - when it verifies, it reports an error.
