Fwd: problems with VLC and Totem playing image on external monitor

If I understood you correctly, switching between the monitors works, if
you can get your mouse back.
Does perhaps your video player make your mouse dissapear? So that you
don't have to see your mouse when you watch your dvd. It's just a guess
but you can check it:
if you close your dvd player (press ALT+F4) you should see your mouse again.
