php/ssh2-0.10 on 6.06 LTS

I'm having a miserable time with this pear module.

I attempted to follow the tutorial on this page:

http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net/techblog/article/make_ssh_connections_with_php/

and it seemed to me like there were no errors throughout the steps, however when I take the Method 1: execute php block and test it, I'm getting: function ssh2_connect doesn't exist.

However I got "install ok: channel://pear.php.net/ssh2-0.10

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
