I don't know the answer to your question, but I used to use Tomboy for
tons of stuff (I'm a copious note taker and reference tidbits keeper).
I more or less outgrew what Tomboy could keep up with.

Take a look at ZIM (it's in the repos). It's a desktop wiki and really
does what I couldn't get Tomboy to do in terms of organization and
crazy cross-linking.
