Thank you Brian. It doesn't seem to be a U3 enabled stick:
- there's no logo to that effect on the device;
- inserting it under Windows does not open a U3 icon in my quick menu;
- the U3 uninstall tool does not recognise it.
I'm really puzzled here: there must be software that just approaches the
stick as pure storage space, ignoring the configuration currently on it?
