Install/Remove programs

Hi Dave

   When you say 'freezes' what happens?  Just that program freezes?
The whole desktop?
A little more info would be helpful.

   A good second troubleshooting step would be to try Synaptic.  It's
under System -> Administration
It does exactly the same thing as add remove programs, it's just got a
lot more options :-)

That info would help everybody figure out what's going on.
