e-d-s provides mail, calendar, addressbook, tasks and memo data. Many
applications interface with it, for example Pidgin. Maybe you ran _some_
Gnome program at some time that started e-d-s. Did you check straight
after rebooting? The command "ps axjf" shows a nice process tree, maybe
it helps to find out what started e-d-s. Thinking about it, how do you
log in, via gdm?
