On my old ATI Radeon x550 PCIx 256mb card GoogleEarh would choke while
Compiz would work fine.  On a similar machine, same Ubuntu and same
opensource ATI driver but with a Radeon 9200SE 128mb card, both Compiz
and GoogleEarth would work.  I never figured out why the better machine
couldn't run it, I just bought an NVidia card so I could get reliable
hibernate/suspend.  :)
