Firefox question

Since the update to firefox if you click on an html file in your file
manager or a link in thunderbird it opens firefox but does not display
the file or website, you have to repeat the action after firefox opens.
I tried removing and reinstalling firefox in hopes that it would solve
the problem but no luck. Does anyone know how to get it return to the
original behavior. It isn't a big deal just an annoyance.
