Microsoft LifeCam VX1000

I am new to Ubuntu and Linux in general, so I am unfimilar with command line systems. I have a Microsoft LifeCam VX1000 and don't know how to get it installed on Ubuntu. I checked with the manufacturer and they offer no support for Linux at all. Can you please tell me if this web cam can be installed on Ubuntu and how to do it? Please keep in mind my command line ignorance. Thanks in advance.
