It is the same. Add/Remove is a different way to add programs. Whether
done through Add/Remove, Synaptic Package Manager, or apt-get install,
the actual program added is the same and normally comes from the same
place.

To install gnash, you can use Synaptic Package Manager by searching for
'gnash' without the quotes, then click the box to add it.

You could also add it by typing in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install gnash
