Correct myself. It is SATA not SADA. And I see your using a SATA to
USB device so that says yes it's a SATA hard drive.
Now I have a SATA hard drive and am using it now. But I had trouble
getting it to work. It turned out to be a tiny amount of dirt in the
SATA plug on my motherboard. I do not care for the connectors used on
SATA devices because they are perf-board edge connectors which can, and
often do have trouble.
So be sure your connectors are making good contact. That could in
fact be what's wrong in the laptop. Be worth a try.
