I am working with an old Dell Inspiron 5000, P-3 with 192 MB RAM and 6.4 GB
hard drive. The point I'm at is as follows...
-start computer
-first black screen asks me to choose Win98 or Ubuntu
-if I choose WIN98, no problems
-if I choose Ubuntu see below...
-it starts loading the 8.04 ver. CD but takes literally hours to load
-when finally loaded I click on Install Ubuntu...no windows pop up, no
choices are given, the CD simply starts running
-I leave it run for hours longer, thinking that it's formatting my drive and
installing Ubuntu and then nothing...computer shuts down
-I'm back to square one
Any ideas would help, please
Note: I am not planning to keep both Operating systems on this comp. I
simply want to run Ubuntu. Can I simply format the drive in the WIN98 system
and then somehow install Ubuntu?
Thanks
Eddy
