Hey list,
I started up google-earth for the first time on a fairly new install. It
gives me the splash screen, waits for a while, gives me the main window
and the start-up tips window, both empty. Then every thing disappears.
Syslog, Dmesg, messages etc. show nothing except for Xorg.log.0 which
shows this message many times:
FreeType: couldn't find encoding 'iso8859-14' for
'/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType/Andale_Mono.ttf'
0-FontSpecific gbk-0
The more I try to run google-earth the more of these messages I get. In
fact trying to start google-earth puts five of them in Xorg.log.0 at a time.
I have Andale_Mono.ttf installed via msttcorefonts. But I do think this
really has to do with "encoding 'iso8859-14'" from the above, of which I
know nothing. A cursory googling shows only results from packages and RPMs.
Can anyone give me a hint as to what charset is iso8859-14 and why do I
need it for Andale_Mono in Google-earth?
TIA,
Dave
