Wine is a alchoholic liquid refreshment that is normally used at dinner time
with meals. Be carefull it causing a major headache!

No no -

*Wine* is a software application which aims to allow
Unix-like<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix-like>computer operating
systems <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system> on the x86
architecture <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_architecture> to execute
programs that were originally written for Microsoft
Windows<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows>.
Wine also provides a software
library<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_library>known as
*Winelib* which developers can
compile<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compiler>Windows applications
against in order to
port <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porting> them to Unix-like
systems.[1]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_%28software%29#_note-0>
Now in windows you have things like directx (this is similar) people also
understand it better when told it is like an emulator (it mimics and fools)
windows application to run inside linux.
a typical example is running microsoft word inside linux using this
application.

A good website to read up and see what works and what is in progress to
working is found at:

and more informaiton here
