evo, imap and gmail are causing a small issue

sorry to but into this message but it seems on a line of what I am
having problems with, Is any one else having problems using gmail pop3
and evolution?
it pops OK but if I have my mail filtered into a folder after popped
down it's marked as read by evolution!?!
should this happen, is this a gmail or evolution problem?
