Tool for getting data from internet( Gadget)

Hi Geeks,

I want to write a small tool which picks up details from a particular link
and keeps updating.
Similar to a gadget.

This is what I am looking for.

Ex :- I want to keep track of a particular share(stock) . And it should pop
up as soon as
        the target price is reached.

Input would be the stock code. And the other parameter would be the the URL
from where it should get
the data( This would be a hard coded as well)

Please let me know if there are anything like glade or anyother stuff which
could help me get this one done.
