i'm on a T30 which suspends fine with any method you use (fn+f4, close
lid, gnome buttons, click on the battery meter in the system
notification area). hibernate didn't work so hot - i blame the video
card (ati mobility 7500 i think, 32mb) but now works perfectly since i
installed uswsusp.
had to change /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh to have only these two lines:
#!/bin/bash
s2disk
uswsusp includes the s2ram utility too which might help with suspend.
