There are at least two different approaches. You could install a backup
program and invoke it through the GUI. Alternatively you could take the
opportunity to learn some simple scripting and write a script using the
cp (Copy) command. That can be invoked through the command-line or
through the Cron scheduler. You only need a simple script, so it is an
ideal opportunity to learn.
But the first thing to do is to find out where your particular mail
application stores its mail data.
