This is a fsck (File System ChecK afaik) and is quite normal...
I've been running Gutsy for some time now - not noticed any fsck - that
is *not* normal operation... How do you configure fsck operations?

It's just something that happens every 30 times you boot up or so.
Mainly it's meant to check the integrity of the disk. It does this
automatically so you don't have to worry about doing so like you would
have with windoze. Don't worry about it.

I booted my system tonight and instead of getting a
login, I got a series of text. When it reached
"Checking root file system" the next line read:"
/dev/sda1 has been mounted 31 times without check,
check forced."
It then appeared to do a "scan disk" type operation
and then booted normally.
Am I not doing something regularly that I should or
have something set up wrong?
Clues welcome.
