ATI and TVOut

Hi, David,
nice you answered me so quick ..
maybe it is the cable - I really don't know how good it is ... when I bought
it, I didn't really know what kind of cable should I buy :)
Ok, now I know that the S-video is not the problem and that I can see the
picture on tv...maybe it is the TV, as it is really old (I wouldn't buy a
new one right now just to know if I can work out the connection of the two
:):) ) ...and there's another thing - my driver, maybe I should get another
ati driver.
So, to eliminate at least one possibility out, I tried to install another
driver from here
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Gutsy_Installation_Guide
, the Catalyst 7.12. Everything seems nice during the installation, but when
I tried to verify the newly installed driver, there were no driver and here
it comes 'Mesa' out :((. I have a lot of work to do to get my old driver
back. And now have just another problem-when I restart ubuntu and try to
open whatever - terminal, or FF, the window schifts up and covers the
toolbar, so to access whatever els, I have to (somewhere was written that I
should) run the command "metacity --replace", which temporarily shifts the
window in the right position. I have to work out this tomorrow :(
Nevertheless ...
Can you give me a hint for the right cable if I would go to buy it?
Other things are just ok: the picture is well proportioned, centered on the
screen; yes I saw on the thread that the others have experienced various
problems concerning the position of the picture on the screen.
Cheers, Angels
