i think it's something to do with usplash doing infinite loops on some
hardware.
the same thing happened to us on Splashy with libdirectfb, but this has
since been fixed (http://splashy.alioth.debian.org/wiki/faq) thanks to the
people at RPath Linux.
yep. my opinion in this matter is biased, as I'm the main developer for
Splashy :-D
