new user needs help

Hi,
what do I press to get focus on the system tray at the top of the window?
I'm using The live CD Ubunto 7.10 with Orca.
I noticed that the live CD will not play .mp3 files, but it will play .ogg & .wav.
And while on fire fox, pressing the up or down arrows will not read the page. Am I doing something wrong?
